ABOUT TORONTO UNITED FHC

Founded in 2012 we are a coed field hockey club based in downtown Toronto for all ages. Like Toronto, we are a melting pot of people who have moved to the city from different parts of Canada and the world and share a common passion for the sport. We currently have players from across Canada, USA, UK, Italy, France, Spain, Luxembourg, Argentina, Chile, India, Pakistan, Kenya, Jamaica, Trinidad, Holland, Barbados, Singapore and South Africa. Our members range in age and skill:

  • junior and adult beginners who have come out to try something new
  • high school and university players
  • provincial players
  • former/current international players

At our practice sessions you will get a chance to improve your skills and have fun.

Our goals are to provide playing opportunities and quality coaching to all skill levels and ages and also to build a strong community where players can create friendships and contacts and help the sport to grow.

WHEN DO WE TRAIN & PLAY?

JAN / FEB / MAR
Indoor Field Hockey - Winter Season
From January to March we practice weekly indoors and enter our mens, womens and junior teams into tournaments and available leagues. We also organize friendly games against other clubs.
MAY / JUN
Outdoor Field Hockey - Spring Season
In May and June we practice weekly outdoors on turf and enter our mens, womens and junior teams into tournaments and available leagues. There are typically 2 or 3 tournaments.
JUL / AUG
Outdoor Field Hockey - Summer Season
Practices continue throughout the summer for both adults and juniors. Our club enters additional tournaments in the summer months - many of which are hosted in Brampton. The club also travels to the Barbados Hockey Festival the third week in August.
SEPT / OCT
Outdoor Field Hockey - Informal Sessions
The University of Toronto Turfs are heavily booked during September and October. While we do not always have formal practices booked, many club members arrange pick up games in the community time allotted on the turf on evenings and weekends.
NOV / DEC
Indoor Field Hockey - Fall Season
Indoor hockey starts up in November and takes a break during the holiday season. There are a few tournaments in these months. Mens leagues may run before and after the holiday season.

Toronto United goes to Barbados Hockey Festival

At Toronto United Field Hockey Club we play hard on and off the field. For many of us, field hockey was our first friend group turned hockey family when moving to Toronto from abroad. Teammates and clubmates become an amazing support system. Some have been playing for the club for years and new members join all throughout the year for outdoor and indoor field hockey.

Don’t be surprised by doing planks at the beginning of practice – you’ll have plenty of time to recover over a cold beverage afterwards. We have many social events, local and travel tournaments, jersey days and junior events. New members of all ages, skill levels and nationalities are welcome. Even if you are just in town for a couple weeks – come out and play!
